Federal Government Adopts Web Surveys to Solve Evaluation Problems
SurveySolutions for the Web Now Available on GSA Schedule
BRAINTREE, MA (September 14, 2000) - Perseus Development Corporation’s web survey software product is becoming a critical component of the evaluation phase of the Federal Government’s SAT (Systems Approach to Training) process. Recognizing the profound benefits of conducting surveys via the web, the U.S. Government recently adopted this cost-effective data collection approach. Ft. Leavenworth, Ft. Jackson, and Ft. Knox found gold when they implemented Perseus’ SurveySolutions for the Web to access military performance and best practice procedures. The proven results landed Perseus’ SurveySolutions family of products on the GSA Schedule (GSA Number GS-35F-0436K).
The Civilian Leadership Training Division of the US Army Command & General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, KS began using SurveySolutions to obtain critical performance feedback after individuals graduated from the School’s leadership course, OLE (Organizational Leadership for Executives). Upon completion of the course, a web survey was sent to the graduate’s superior, the graduate, two of the graduate’s co-workers, and two of the graduate’s subordinates. The purpose of the survey was to measure improvement in the graduate’s performance after attending the course. The surveys proved extremely valuable in supplying course data to the school-house.
SurveySolutions has also been used by the United States Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) at Ft. Knox. The Commanding General of USAREC at Ft. Knox needed to identify information relevant to transportation of Army applicants on a national level. In order to do this quickly, a survey was created and placed on their website using SurveySolutions for the Web, a note was sent via e-mail to the field recruiters directing them to complete the survey on the internet, and results were returned and compiled into an executive summary within 2 weeks. Because the entire process was done internally, it was completed cost-effectively in a very short timeframe with a 97% response rate!
Ft. Jackson has also implemented a web survey [system] at the Soldier Support Institute which supports the US Army Recruiting and Retention School, the US Army Adjutant General School (AGS), and the US Army Finance School. Perseus' SurveySolutions for the Web is being used by the Institute to assess the effectiveness of their training programs after graduation.
"SurveySolutions for the Web is not only powerful in function and features, but it uses a familiar word processing environment for questionnaire design," said Joseph Staudenraus, Instructional Systems Specialist at DOT (Directorate of Training). "This means, it does not require additional training. It is a cost-effective, user-friendly program which the government can utilize to save thousands of dollars gathering critical information."
