Perseus Puts the Future of Conferences in Your Palm-Powered Handheld
First Use of Electronic Surveys on Palm-Powered Handhelds at Conference Marks New Direction for Events Worldwide
BRAINTREE, MA (December 11, 2000) - Perseus Development Corporation announced today that the PalmSource(TM) 2000 Conference will be one of the first forums where conference surveys are completed using Palm-Powered(TM) handheld computers. MobileForms, a survey software application designed by Perseus, Palm, Inc. and Critical Path Software, allows for the creation of web and email surveys that can be deployed on a Palm-Powered handheld, eliminating the need for paper-based surveys distributed at conferences and training forums. Once completed, the survey administrator can compile and analyze the results and display them instantly in tables or graphs. A custom version of MobileForms will makes its debut at PalmSource 2000, December 12-15 in Santa Clara, CA, where attendees will have the opportunity to complete surveys using the new software.
"This is the first time PalmSource conference attendees can complete the conference surveys using their Palm-Powered handheld," said Jeffrey Henning, President of the Software Group at Perseus Development Corp., the industry leader in web-based survey research, software, and services. "The irony of distributing paper surveys to handheld-equipped conference attendees is but one impetus for creating this product."
Perseus assisted in the creation of a handheld application using Perseus’ popular SurveySolutions technology. Written in SurveySolutions, the questionnaire is saved in a special format and will be loaded onto Palm-Powered handhelds when conference attendees arrive. During PalmSource, attendees will be asked to complete one general conference survey and smaller surveys on specific sessions they attend. At the end of the event, they will upload their completed questionnaires via HotSync(R) Server stations, so that Palm staff can compile and analyze the results.
This software is a forerunner to Perseus’ own software, MobileForms, which is targeted for release in July 2001. For more information on Perseus SuveySolutions family of products, please visit http://perseus.com.
