Perseus Features Mobile Data Collection Software for Palm Powered-Handheld at PalmSource Conference Establishing New Protocol for Events Worldwide
BRAINTREE, MA (February 5, 2002) - Perseus Development Corporation, the industry leader in web-based survey research, software and services, will provide the mobile survey application at the PalmSource(R) Conference and Expo, the premier event for Palm OS(R) developers and service providers. This is the second consecutive year that Perseus has provided PalmSource participants with the capability to complete conference surveys using Palm Powered(TM) handheld computers.
Leveraging the power of the Palm OS, Perseus' handheld survey application enables the mobile collection and processing of information using a unique combination of Palm OS technology and real-time reporting and analysis. During the PalmSource Conference and Expo, Perseus will be debuting its new software, MobileForms, a survey software application which allows for the creation of web and email surveys that can be deployed on a Palm Powered handheld, eliminating the need for paper-based surveys.
For the PalmSource Conference, the survey questionnaire will be saved in a special format using Perseus' simple word-processing interface and loaded onto Palm Powered handhelds when conference participants arrive. Participants will be asked to complete one general conference survey and smaller surveys on specific sessions they attend. At the end of the event, they will upload their completed questionnaires via HotSync(R) Server stations, so that Palm OS staff can compile and analyze the results which can all be stored to either an Internet SQL database or a desktop Microsoft Access database.
"Attendees' input is vital to the success of future events," said Jeffrey Henning, President of the Software Group at Perseus Development Corp. "Providing a vehicle whereby they can give feedback at a time and place most convenient for them, assures significant participation and promotes essential communication exchange."
Using a completely automated survey process to replace traditional paper-based surveys dramatically reduces the time between collecting and reporting the data while increasing the data's accuracy. According to Henning, "It is not only logical to ask PalmSource participants to complete custom surveys on their Palm Powered handhelds but also a tremendous time-saving advantage to the event's organizers."
"PalmSource participants expect to see and get their hands around the latest technological advances," said Gabriel Acosta-Lopez, senior director of Platform Development Services for the Palm OS subsidiary of Palm, Inc. "Perseus' survey application is extremely helpful for evaluating events. Participants' comments and opinions are collected professionally and easily."
Perseus' MobileForms is used to collect, analyze, and report data for a wide-range of applications including market research, customer service, field sales reporting, inventory management, medical research projects, site inspections, and field audits. Applications for Perseus' MobileForms exist within the retail, government, market research, healthcare, general business and education markets. Perseus' MobileForms is targeted for release this April. For more information on Perseus' family of products, please visit http://perseus.com.
