Customer Case Study: A Global News Agency CIO Survey
Perseus was engaged by A Global New Agency’s worldwide CIO organization to support an ongoing CIO feedback process. The agency requirements included a survey software system capable of supporting high volume traffic from over 35 countries and 17,000 employees. The agency also required technical implementation support, training, and consulting support for questionnaire design and analysis.
The primary objective of the CIO survey is to measure the effectiveness of the products and services that the agency IT organization provides to its employee base. Prior to deploying Perseus’ software the agency had developed and deployed surveys internally using html programming.
The IT staff within the agency while eager to take on the project was unknowledgeable about research processes and techniques. Their requirements therefore went beyond a technology solution and included professional services for assistance in survey design, respondent sampling and results analysis.
Perseus implemented SurveySolutions Enterprise at the agency’s offices in Long Island, NY. The system was configured to support worldwide, multilingual surveys. In addition, Perseus’ professional services organization provided the agency with an annual contract for research and consulting support to deploy the CIO survey three times throughout the year.
Perseus implemented its SurveySolutions software for use by 50 professionals spread across 33 countries responsible for data collection of its various Web sites. Each of the 50 could download SurveySolutions Enterprise in about 30 minutes. Each user could create a survey in a Microsoft Word document, convert it into a Perseus document, and, in about an hour, have a standard, 30-question survey ready to publish. Perseus provided the software company with a secure, password-accessed web portal through which its employees could communicate and view survey data over the Internet just as they would if the data were housed on their desktops. Perseus staff also helped set up more complex surveys, such as those carried out in 22 countries in multiple languages, with the data compiled in separate tables depending on which site the respondent was visiting.
The SurveySolutions Enterprise software and Perseus’ professional services have formed the basis for the news agency's establishment of a internal business unit to consolidate web surveys throughout the CIO organizations. Perseus is now working with the agency defining an additional survey program for its HR organization assessing the communication process within the agency.
